Sharon Gilpatrick has spent her career working with district and school level teams, teachers, and students with the intent of impacting the quality of teaching and learning. Sharon has a passion for helping teachers and students reach their potential, and has continually explored and implemented practices that research has demonstrated to be most effective.

Her belief in the importance of being a lifelong learner has led her to obtain a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, as well as become certified as a Teacher, Reading Specialist, Principal, Staff Developer, Supervisor, and Director of Instruction, from Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee.. Sharon has been a Teacher, Reading Specialist, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Middle School Learning Coordinator, Madison Metropolitan School District K-12 Language Arts Coordinator and Reading Recovery Teacher Leader. As District Language Arts Coordinator, Sharon established and led leadership teams of teachers, in the writing of Language Arts Standards and in aligning their curriculum and assessments to those standards. Sharon also was responsible for instituting the Six Traits of Quality Writing as the vehicle for scoring the Madison Metropolitan School District's writing assessment and has trained numerous teachers in the use of this assessment at both the district and classroom level. Recently, Sharon developed and taught a Trainer of Trainers Six+1 Traits of Writing class for the Sally Ride Academy.
Sharon has presented at local and national conferences on various educational topics. She has served as President and Vice-President of a local Reading Council and is an adjunct professor at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee and at Viterbo University in LaCrosse.
