As a thirty-year employee of the Flint Public Schools, Lucy Smith served as teacher (pre-kindergarten-elementary grades), Special Needs Advocate working with at risk high school students who were enrolled in vocational education, and administrator. She recently retired from the Flint District at the position of principal. Her district affiliations were Curriculum Task Force, Congress of School Administrators and At Risk Committee.
Lucy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Michigan-Flint, a Master of Arts in Teaching and Administrative Certification from Oakland University.
A member of the Children's Wish Fund Board of Directors, Granholm Challenge (Governors Community Task Force), and volunteer, Bobby Crim Road Race is her means of giving back to her community. Lucy is active at her local church, Living Word Ministry, where she teaches Sunday school and Wednesday night bible class to the youth.
A native of Arkansas, Lucy is married and the mother of two young adults and lives in Flint, Michigan.
