Dr. Elizabeth Warren photo

Elizabeth Warren has more than 20 years experience in school law, school policy and long-range planning. During 12 years with the South Carolina School Boards Association, she wrote and revised school board policy, lobbied the South Carolina General Assembly on a wide range of state policy topics, and was the author of numerous reports and publications, including the popular Legislative Update. She has been an invited presenter at local, state and national workshops and conferences.

Dr. Warren served as the first Executive Director of the 10 district Western Piedmont Education Consortium and as the Assistant to the Superintendent for research, development and evaluation in the Greenville County School District, the largest district in South Carolina. She directed school and public libraries in South Carolina and practiced law in litigation-oriented firms in Albany, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina.

Elizabeth was invited as a Fellow to the National Center for Education Statistics' May 2001 fellowship program and is a 1999 graduate of Leadership South Carolina. Elizabeth holds M.L.S., J.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Warren is an adjunct instructor for both Furman University and the University of South Carolina. She teaches courses in school law, school finance and educational research to students enrolled in advanced degree programs. She created a Virtual College of Education online law course for NetGen Learning Systems, Inc. and is a certified facilitator in the SMART Schools/SMART Goals School Improvement Process.

Elizabeth is the owner of Educational Policy Initiatives Corporation (EPI). EPI offers professional educational consulting services to states, school districts and schools. In addition to the SMART Schools/SMART Goals training, EPI conducts professional development workshops for educators in testing, measurement and data and provides customized research:

Refining Common Sense (Scarecrow Press, 2004), is an educator's guide to making real data driven decisions through the collection and use of appropriate information in a school system.
