Already experienced in her community as an advocate for education reform, Linda McKee began her professional career as a middle school English teacher in Virginia. She moved to the position of District Coordinator for Gifted Students and developed a district-wide middle school program for gifted and talented students that aligned with the high school mentoring program. With a move to Louisiana, Linda spent the next several years at the Louisiana Department of Education. During this time, Linda's responsibilities as a supervisor in the section of School Planning and Improvement focused on aligning the state's new school and district accountability system with federal requirements. Her work included guiding the numerous departmental divisions to develop tools and manuals for information and providing assistance on accountability and school improvement.
Linda is a steadfast advocate for the integration of multiple facets of educational reform: leadership, professional development, fiscal responsibility, and strategic planning, believing that all components must be aligned from the state level strategic plans through the district processes to the individual school improvement process. In her position with the Louisiana Alliance for Education Reform at Tulane University, Linda applied an action-planning model to assist schools and districts to align these school improvement components. She continues her very supportive relationship with schools and districts as the Assistant Director of the Teacher Preparation and Certification program with Tulane University in New Orleans.
Ms. McKee holds a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Virginia's Curry School of Educational Leadership, Foundations, and Policy. She lives in the New Orleans area.
