About QLD and Co-founders Anne Conzemius and Jan O'Neill
QLD's Co-Founders
Both roots in — and commitment to — education brought Anne Conzemius and Jan O'Neill together to develop products and services for helping schools achieve academic excellence. In 1998 they founded Quality Leadership by Design which is focused on working with school leadership teams to help them apply what they call "S.M.A.R.T." (Specific and Strategic, Measurable, Attainable, Results-based, Timebound) goals and processes to their continuous school improvement efforts.
QLD was formed in September, 2002 when Quality Leadership by Design, LLC, Curriculum Facilitator Corporation and TechERA Corporation merged. The combined capabilities reflect a decade of research, development and marketing of products and services that help schools address accountability by creating organizational capacity for change, learning and improvement. QLD is committed to providing software and professional development solutions to schools and districts across the country.
Anne Conzemius and Jan O'Neill founded Quality Leadership by Design in 1998 to focus on improving K-12 education. As founders, Anne and Jan bring a unique combination of experiences in the development and delivery of high quality solutions that promote individual and organizational learning. Over the past 30 years they have helped educational institutions, as well as government and industry, successfully implement continuous improvement systems. In addition, they have co-authored three books: The Power of SMART Goals (Solution Tree, 2005), The Handbook for SMART School Teams (Solution Tree, 2002), and Building Shared Responsibility for Student Learning (ASCD premier member book, 2001). In 2007, QLD published Breaking the Low-Achieving Mindset by Sue Abplanalp, PhD.
In the past, Anne has served as a school psychologist, state deputy superintendent, state supervisor of training and development, and senior consultant for a leading human resources firm. She has two Master’s Degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one in Educational Psychology and one in Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management. Jan’s experience includes serving as a classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator, product marketing manager and consultant for a national consulting firm. Jan received her Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration from UW-Madison’s LaFollette Institute. Both roots in – and a passion for – education brought the two together to form QLD ten years ago.
